NCGA Welcomes New Member: Springfield Food Co-op

National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA), a business services cooperative representing natural food co-ops nationwide, today announced the addition of its 110th member: Springfield Food Co-op in Springfield, VT. (

As an NCGA member, Springfield Food Co-op will be able to leverage the association’s purchasing power and operational and marketing resources and collaborate with other member co-ops on issues relevant to the sector.

“Springfield Food Co-op has been a vital member of its community since 1992,” said Robynn Shrader, chief executive officer for NCGA. “We’re excited to have them join NCGA, and look forward to helping them leverage our services to benefit their shoppers and member-owners.”

“What I’m most excited about with our membership is our newfound ability to tap into a national network of experience in sourcing good food and health products and offering beneficial co-op member services,” said Cindy Phillips, general manager of Springfield Food Co-op. “At the same time, our membership frees us to spend more time focusing on the distinct needs of our more than 750 members and the community at large.”

Currently, the Springfield Food Co-op features five full-time and four part-time employees, as well as 12 members volunteers.

The Co-op features local and national natural and organic foods – including produce sourced from local farms, a dairy department featuring products from area creameries, and a bakery department featuring artisan breads sourced from local area bakeries daily – as well as a full array of natural health and wellness products.
