Progressive Grocer, a monthly magazine serving food retailers nationwide, has named Robynn Shrader, chief executive officer of the National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA), among the "Top Women in Grocery" in its August issue.
NCGA is a business services cooperative for 109 consumer-owned food co-ops located throughout the United States. Shrader was the founding executive director of NCGA. As CEO, she is involved daily with the challenges and opportunities facing the co-ops. She works directly with a variety of industry organizations and foundations that serve the natural, organic and cooperative communities and represents food co-ops on national issues that impact retail grocery.
Established in 1922 and written for professionals in the supermarket, retail, and supply industry nationwide, Progressive Grocer (www.progressivegrocer.com) provides news, features, and regular departments that analyze current trends in the supermarket industry. Shrader is among a number of women the magazine profiles in the current issue.
Shrader has more than 15 years experience in cooperative marketing, brand management and organizational development. She formerly was vice president of marketing for Burgess Enterprises in Seattle, Wash. and coffee category manager for Frontier Natural Products Co-op. Her accomplishments include the development of several successful, cause-related brands in the organic and specialty coffee industry.
