Hunger Mountain Coop is a member-owned, community-based natural market committed to building a dynamic community of healthy individuals, sustainable local food systems and thriving cooperative commerce.

Nestled on the banks of the Winooski River in Montpelier, Vermont, Hunger Mountain Co-op offers a wide selection of natural foods and products, as well as a full-service deli-cafe with prepared dishes for here and to go. However, the Co-op is more than just a place to buy healthy food; we are a community resource that promotes nutritional awareness, local sustainability and environmental responsibility in the central Vermont community.

Hunger Mountain Co-op's present location, a 20,000 square-foot structure, was built and occupied by The Co-op in 1996 and later expanded in 2006. Prior to that, the Co-op had two previous storefronts in the Capitol City after it was created as a buying club in 1969. Currently, Hunger Mountain has over 6,700 member-owners.

Hunger Mountain Co-op is proud of its place in the central Vermont community. On our shelves one can find over 1,700 products from local farms and companies; buying locally and contributing to the sustainability of the local economy continues to be a Co-op priority. In addition, we offer a regular schedule of (mostly free) workshops on a variety of subjects, including nutrition, health and the environment, and contribute to a wide array of community events and programs.

The Hunger Mountain community extends well beyond the walls of the Co-op. We offer workshops and classes, both here and at other local venues, larger-scale community events, including our annual Food and Wellness Expo and Earth Day celebration, and other activities that are made available to both our member-owners and to the greater central Vermont populace. We welcome your visit!
