Olympia Food Co-op (Westside)

The Olympia Food Co-op operates two stores in Olympia, Wash. offering a wide selection of natural foods and products to our community.

We started out as a funky, tiny storefront in downtown Olympia in winter of 1977. The storefront was the natural outgrowth of the strong network of food buying clubs in the area. The 1980s brought crazy growth, and what had been a cozy little co-op became a packed-like-sardines store, and the co-op opened a second location in 1994. Now, well over a decade later, both stores are thriving.

We specialize in organic foods, and both stores feature an extensive selection of produce, bulk foods and dairy products. We also carry frozen foods, naturally sweetened treats, gardening and canning supplies, whole foods cookbooks, mercantile items, magazines, and more. Our Eastside store boasts a scrumptious salad bar with hot soups.

The co-op is more than just a place to buy healthy food; we are a community resource that practices and promotes nutritional awareness, local farming and production, environmental responsibility, social and economic justice, collective management, and consensus decision-making.

The purpose of the cooperative is to contribute to the health and well-being of people by providing wholesome foods and other goods and services, accessible to all. We strive to make human effects on the earth and its inhabitants positive and renewing, and we encourage economic and social justice.

You don't have to be a member to shop at the co-op; everyone is welcome!
